When you register a domain, you are required to give an authentic home address, email and phone as per the policy adopted by ICANN, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers. This information, though, is not kept only by the domain registrar, but is visible to the general public on WHOIS lookup websites as well, so anybody can view your details and a lot of individuals may not be okay with this. Consequently, numerous companies have launched the so-called Whois Privacy Protection service, which conceals the client’s contact info and upon a WHOIS check, people will view the details of the domain registrar, not those of the domain owner. This service is also popular as Privacy Protection or Whois Privacy Protection, but all these terms refer to the very same service. As of now, most of the Top-Level Domains around the world allow Whois Privacy Protection to be enabled, but there are still country-code extensions that do not support this option.

Whois Privacy Protection in Cloud Hosting

If you have ordered a Linux cloud hosting from our company and you have registered one or more domains under your account, you will be able to enable Whois Privacy Protection for any of them without effort and to keep your private information safe. Of course, this will be possible only with the TLD extensions that support such an option. In your Hepsia Control Panel, you will find an “Whois Privacy Protection” logo on the right-hand side of each of your domain names. Its color will tell you if a domain is Whois Privacy Protected or not and in the second case, you can activate Whois Privacy Protection with only several clicks. In this way, you can shield your private information even if you have not added the Whois Privacy Protection service during the registration process. You’ll be able to renew or to deactivate the Whois Privacy Protection service for any of your domain names just as easily.

Whois Privacy Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

If you’ve got a semi-dedicated server account with us and you register a domain under it, you can add our Whois Privacy Protection service without difficulty. This requires only a couple of clicks of the mouse in the Hepsia Control Panel’s Registered Domains section, through which you manage everything associated with your semi-dedicated hosting account. This is where you can see all your active domain names and for each of them you will find an “Whois Privacy Protection” button, using which you can order, renew or deactivate the Whois Privacy Protection service. Of course, this will be possible only with generic and country-specific domain name extensions that are Whois Privacy Protection-eligible and you’ll be able to see this in advance, so you won’t end up purchasing a service that we can’t provide.
